At Full Bloom Health, I offer holistic nutrition counselling to women in the Perinatal stages of life. I support women from preconception, throughout pregnancy and into postpartum with the use of food, supplements and lifestyle additions. This is the most energetically, emotionally, and nutritionally demanding time in a woman’s life and I want to show women that they do have some control and can feel good and nourished throughout this time. With my training, experience and passion surrounding this time in life, I know that I can make a difference in women’s lives.

1. What was the Starter Company Plus experience like for you?

The Starter Company was a really great experience for me. Since I am just starting my business, I learned a lot about running a business, and I feel like the program and program leader gave me the tools that I need to run a successful business.

2. Where did the idea for Bloom Health come from?

I have 2 young daughters, and really struggled through everything that it took to make, grow and feed my babies. I feel like the emphasis is really put on the baby during this time, but the focus should shift to the mom. At the time, when I was going through my first postpartum experience, I didn’t know how much food, supplements and lifestyle practices could help me and give me the energy and nourishment I needed to keep going. Pregnancy and Postpartum are actually the most nutrient demanding times in a woman’s life. I created Full Bloom Health because I want to help women feel their best from preconception, through pregnancy, into postpartum and breastfeeding. I work with my clients 1:1 to assess their current situation and health concerns, and walk them through steps to achieve their goals, get them back to health and feeling like themselves again.

3. What are your hopes for the business in the next 3 years?

I would like to continue seeing clients 1:1 in my practice, and eventually doing in-person workshops again once we can gather in bigger groups. I am also working on a couple online group programs so that I can help more women, in a group-like setting.

4. Has it been difficult launching a new business during the pandemic?

Yes and no. I don’t know what it is like to start a business outside of the Pandemic, but because of the Pandemic, shifting the business model to 100% online is much more acceptable, so that has been helpful since my business is entirely run online from home. It will be nice when we can gather in groups again though – I believe that the support of the community is seriously lacking for pregnant and postpartum women at this time, I really feel for them.

5. What has the response in the community been since you launched?

So far so good 🙂

6. What is your favourite thing about living and working in Peterborough & the Kawarthas?

There is so much support out there for entrepreneurs and start-ups. I feel really proud to call Peterborough my home!
