MEDIA RELEASE – Wednesday June 2, 2021.

[PETERBOROUGH, ON]: Local retailers interesting in learning how to FutureProof their business are invited to sign up for a free online workshop offered by Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development on June 15th from 10:00 – 11:00am. The FutureProofing Retail Workshop is being presented by Lisa Hutcheson, a seasoned retailer executive with J.C. Williams Group, a global retail consulting firm specializing in retail strategy, operations/HR, main street revitalization and shopping centre redevelopment.

“Retail has changed dramatically over the past year, and it can be overwhelming to try and keep up and know what is ahead. Juggling ever-changing COVID-19 protocols, launching an online store, managing cash flow, and keeping connect and serving customers in new ways is challenging” says Hutcheson.

Often asked what it means to FutureProof a retail business, Hutcheson adds “It means we help you anticipate the future and develop innovative strategies to increase your resilience to change, so you can thrive.”

The workshop will provide inspiration as well as actionable interactive elements to engage and support main street businesses. The one-hour workshop will also include a discussion about overall retail trends and innovations along with insights and inspiration to help businesses find new ways to stay relevant and continue to grow as the region begins to move its way through pandemic recovery over the next few years.

“As our retail businesses prepare to reopen, PKED is looking forward to offering this workshop. Our retail shops are an integral part of our business community and we believe that Lisa will provide a fresh outlook at sustaining and growing retail in the years to come.” Added Hillary Manion, Entrepreneurship Officer for PKED’s Business Advisory Centre.
