Leadership Acumen Ensures A Smooth Landing For Clients

Founded in 2009, The Loomex Group is Canadian-owned and operated, providing a diverse range of services via four main divisions: aviation and aerospace, infrastructure and asset management, emergency management, and education and compliance. The company’s growth has been consistent and significant since day one, with recent major acquisitions being aviation consultant Explorer Solutions in 2020 and, in 2022, aerospace defence contractor ACF Associates.

The Loomex Group team of permanent staff, contractors, and consultants bring years of combined experience to the table, creating and delivering municipal emergency and risk management, fire and safety, business development, aviation defence, and public relations solutions for a variety of clients across Canada and in the United States. Responsible also for the operation of the Peterborough Airport, where it is headquartered, The Loomex Group has led the remarkable growth of the airport and its on-site companies.

In 2007, when former Peterborough fire chief Trent Gervais was directed by the City of Peterborough to do a risk assessment of the airport, he saw the potential for its development. At the time, the airport’s GDP was $30 million; It’s now estimated to be $90 million. Appointed the airport’s general manager that same year, Gervais has been president and CEO of The Loomex Group since 2012.

“We (The Loomex Group) are working across North America, teaching courses, conducting exercises, advising airports strategically from a safety perspective, working in the defence sector…the list goes on and on,” says Gervais.

But as proud as he is of The Loomex Group’s steady growth and success, Gervais’ chest swells when talk centres on “the largest airport on the east side of Toronto…we’ve gone from zero to 50.”

The result, says Gervais “is a perfect recipe. When you think about situating MROs (maintenance, repair, and operations), we have the land, and we have great colleges and universities that we partner with so we can develop skilled trades. We’re ready to go again and go to that next level.”
