What has PKED been doing to help businesses grow?

PKED partnered with the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Chamber of Commerce to deliver the 2022 Business Summit: Forward Thinking.

The event was hosted in-person and through virtual events geared to supporting businesses across the region.

Launch of Spark Tourism Product Development Program

PKT has launched a new program aimed at developing and supporting innovative tourism ideas in Peterborough & the Kawarthas. The “Spark” Mentorships & Grants Program will match selected applicants with a mentor and provide a seed grant to help take their new tourism idea to the next level. 

Hosted a series of rural workshops focused on new and growing agriculture businesses in partnership with York, Durham, Northumberland, and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Launched 3rd Annual Business Count Survey on May 5th

The 3rd annual survey of local businesses takes place from May 4th to August 26th, 2022.

Launched a Small Business Workshop Series throughout the County

In partnership with various townships throughout Peterborough County, the Business Advisory Centre has begun to offer a small business workshop series at locations in the participating townships.

PKED’s President & CEO Rhonda Keenan MC’d the company’s anniversary celebrations.

Peterborough & the Kawarthas is in the process of undergoing significant changes to the economic development and tourism delivery model in the region. Community Futures Peterborough is now operating the regional Small Business Enterprise Centre (Business Advisory Centre).

Beginning in 2025, the City of Peterborough and Peterborough County will assume full responsibility for economic development and tourism services, and Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development will cease operations at the end of 2024.
